Unity Hospice Names January Employee of the Month

Rochelle, Ill. – Each month Unity Hospice of Western Illinois names an Employee of the Month. This honor is awarded to an employee who shows a willingness to go above and beyond in their role to ensure each patient, family, and/or community member that receives service from Unity Hospice is given the best care and service possible.

Bethany Houser, RN, was named Employee of the Month in January for her outstanding service to Unity Hospice patients and families under her care. Beth is part of the Rapid Response Team at Unity Hospice and is often the first employee to meet the families and patients in an effort to ensure eligibility and appropriateness and begin the admission process quickly, particularly for patients who have bothersome or uncontrolled symptoms that require assessment and management. If the patient is declining rapidly, Beth will continue to care for the patient throughout their stay providing for the education, support and coordination of care and services necessary to ensure that care with dignity, comfort and peace is provided.

“Beth is truly an asset to Unity Hospice patient and family care,” says Area Administrator Carla Humphreys. “She understands her patients’ needs by listening to what they have to say, and then plans and coordinates care to meet those wishes. Her knowledge, compassion and willingness to go above and beyond have paid off.”
