Unity Hospice to Host Grief Recovery Group

Mt. Morris, Ill. – Unity Hospice of Western Illinois will be hosting a Grief Recovery Group at Mt. Morris Senior Center on Thursday, June 26. The support group will continue to meet weekly for the following six weeks.

Grief is the normal and natural reaction to significant emotional loss. The ranges of emotions associated with grief are as varied as there are people and personalities. Grief is both individual and unique.

An informational meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 19 at 1:00 pm. There are no fees for attending the group.

“While grief is normal and natural, most of the information passed on within our society about dealing with grief is not normal, natural or helpful,” states Certified Grief Specialist and Unity Hospice Bereavement Coordinator Ken Lawson. “We grieve all types of losses; death, loss of independence, loss of jobs and life experiences.” adds Lawson. “The Grief Recovery Method will provide individuals with the tools to achieve recovery, not just apply a band aid. It is a program which creates a safe place for those who have suffered a loss to share, learn and heal.”
