CHICAGO – Stephanie Bonaroti of Chicago, Ill., recently joined Unity Hospice of Chicagoland as assistant volunteer coordinator. Area Administrator Chaim Klein and Volunteer Coordinator Cynthia Selling made the announcement.Stephanie Bonaroti 003

Bonaroti began her journey with Unity Hospice six months ago as a hospice volunteer where she visited patients and provided them with Music & Memory℠, a personalized music therapy program for Alzheimer’s patients that is offered by the hospice. Bonaroti took interest in Unity Hospice’s other volunteer-based programs, leading to her current staff position.

In her new role as assistant volunteer coordinator, she will build the Music & Memory program, assist with volunteer recruitment and mentor incoming volunteers. Additionally, she will continue to enhance other complimentary patient programs provided by Unity Hospice, including animal-assisted therapy and Hospice for Heroes, a program that recognizes veteran hospice patients with a formal honoring ceremony.

The holistic approach to hospice is what Bonaroti appreciates most about the service. Having grown up with a family of medical directors, Bonaroti enjoys taking a non-medical approach to patients and still increasing their quality of life.

A Pittsburg, Pa. native, Bonaroti currently lives in Chicago, Ill. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Music Theory from Notre Dame and her Master of Arts in Humanities with an emphasis in music from the University of Chicago.
