Unity Hospice of Chicagoland DCS Earns Advanced Credentials

CHICAGO – Unity Hospice of Chicagoland Director of Clinical Services Becky Podowski, RN, recently earned her certified hospice and palliative care nurse (CHPN) certification from the Hospice and Palliative Credentialing Center (HPCC). This credential exemplifies her advanced knowledge and training in end-of-life care.

HPCC is a competence-based Board. Board members represent a wide variety of geographic areas, practice settings and educational backgrounds. HPCC is responsible for the development and oversight of certification for the specialty of nursing in hospice and palliative care.

Podowski began her nursing career serving as an oncology nurse in a hospital setting, which prepared her to work in hospice. After becoming accustomed to pain management and the dying process, she began working as a hospice nurse in 2005 where she held clinical supervisory roles. Currently, Podowski serves as director of clinical services for Unity Hospice of Chicagoland.

Podowski received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) in 2003. A South Side native, Podowski currently resides in Matteson, Ill., with her husband and two children.
