ST. LOUIS – Unity Hospice of Greater St. Louis recently named Anne Chida, of Ballwin, Mo., its 2015 Employee of the Year. Chida began her career with Unity Employee of the Year, Hospice Award, Chaplain, Bereavement
Hospice in February 2014 as a hospice social worker. She currently serves as bereavement coordinator for the family members of hospice patients in Illinois and Missouri. She also serves as chaplain for Missouri patients.

“Anne is responsive to the needs of each patient and family, and she is devoted to providing care of the highest quality,” said Unity Hospice Administrator Dionne Thompson. “Her dependability and dedication to Unity Hospice staff is highly commendable. She has the ability to perform multiple roles, and perform them in a way that goes above and beyond her call of duty. She is more than deserving of this recognition.”

Prior to joining Unity Hospice, Chida served as chaplain and social worker for Evercare (Optum) Hospice. She also served as their bereavement coordinator when Evercare first opened its St. Louis branch. She came to Unity Hospice with 30+ years of experience providing support services for the bereaved through her work in hospice as well as a private counseling practice specializing in grief and trauma.

Throughout her time at Unity Hospice, Chida has served as social worker, chaplain and, now, bereavement coordinator. Her education, skillset and passion align with each position, allowing her to provide care of the highest quality to patients and their families. In her current role as bereavement coordinator, Chida offers support to our bereaved families as well as giving support to staff and community members grieving a loss.

Chida received her master’s degree in Social Work from University of Missouri – Columbia, Mo., and her master’s degree in Pastoral Studies from Eden Theological Seminary – Webster Groves, Mo.

In her spare time, Chida enjoys spending time with her family, riding her horse, reading and artwork.

Each year, Unity Hospice recognizes an employee who has demonstrated extraordinary devotion to their work and to our patients. The employee of the year recognition is selected by Unity Hospice supervisory staff.
