Feel good about giving back by donating blood on Thursday, May 25 at Unity Hospice of Northwest Indiana

Red Cross, Blood Drive, American Red Cross, Donate BloodMerrillville, Ind. – Unity Hospice of Northwest Indiana will be partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive in your community on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 8407 Virginia Street in Merrillville, Ind. The Red Cross Blood Mobile will be in the parking lot from 2-7 p.m. accepting donations. This community blood drive is open to the public.

Healthy individuals are needed every day to maintain an adequate blood supply for patients in need. Blood is a perishable product that can only come from generous volunteers. By donating blood, individuals can make a difference in the lives of patients in their community and throughout the nation. Donating blood is an easy way to help others and only takes about an hour.

Appointments are appreciated but not required. All walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment to donate blood at this local blood drive or to learn more, visit redcrossblood.org and click on “Find a Drive.” Or, feel free to contact Unity Hospice of Northwest Indiana at (219) 769-8648.

A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
