Unity Hospice honors veterans
Unity Hospice holds our veterans in the highest admiration. Those who have given the ultimate service to our country deserve the ultimate service from Unity Hospice.
Since hospice care is part of the VHA Standard Medical Benefits Package, all enrolled Veterans are eligible if they meet the clinical need for hospice service. There are no copays for Hospice Care whether it is provided by the VA or an organization with a VA contract.
Unity Hospice has three programs to help our veterans receive their final thanks with dignity and respect:
Hospice for Heroes
Unity Hospice has created this unique program in order to honor our veterans one last time. Unity Hospice partners with the patient’s branch of service to create an honoring ceremony which includes a formal flag presentation. Friends, family, and loved ones are invited to participate, leaving the veteran with a lasting tribute for their service.
We Honor Veterans
Under the jurisdiction of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) and in partnership with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, this program provides veteran-specific training to both Unity Hospice staff and volunteers to best serve our patients who are veterans. The on-going education and training help make Unity Hospice a valued partner for VA hospitals and veterans.
Veteran’s History Project
Unity Hospice is a participant in this nationally-recognized program of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Unity Hospice helps veterans to share their stories of military service for preservation in the Library of Congress and on the Veteran’s History Project website.
Testimonial from loved ones
“Thanks to all who listen to my concerns, hurts, crying with me when I had problems and didn’t know which way to go. They kept me up-beat and I was able to keep on going and doing what I had to do to keep my husband as comfortable as possible. You went above and beyond…”
